Fall Vignettes with Faux Flowers and a Sweet Floral Gift

This little mishmash post came about because of an empty orange Du Monde Chicory Coffee can. We bought this chicory coffee several years ago and when emptied out, my husband mentioned I might want to save it because of the advertising and pretty orange color. Good call, Hubby! When this fall rolled around I was excited to see how I could use it in a small floral arrangement.

As you'll see, I've tried taking pics in several places to get good light and try it out by adding a black satin ribbon. I thought I'd use this decorating opportunity to bring out my wicker lighted pumpkin for the top shelf. I love the look of it lit up at night as it brings such a pretty glow in the garden room.

A small bittersweet wispy garland is wrapped around the twiggy pumpkin.

My sister gifted me this mini Norfolk Pine tree about 5 years ago and it's managed to stay alive here in the garden room. It's shiny and lush and I'm thrilled that it's still going strong. A sparse ivy (but has new growth) is in an antique pot. And the handmade wire pumpkin is acting as a candle holder/cloche.

I have always felt that a good vignette includes some kind of floral arrangement. Big or small, flowers or plants give a balanced element to a grouping.

Here it is in the Hearth Room when I first put it together.

I found the little concrete pumpkin about 10 years ago and always love bringing it out. It's indestructible, and don't drop it on your toe.

Changing rooms and scenes, here's what's happening on my little white chippy desk in the garden room. I brought out my large brown transferware pitcher earlier this summer with a sunflower arrangement, so now I've added some faux fall leaf stems to bring it into October.

... And an iron urn with a pumpkin on a bed of moss.

My older daughter surprised me last week with a gorgeous, "just because" floral arrangement with these wonderful white roses and zinnias in a beautiful creamy crackled lidded pumpkin. I was thrilled and have thoroughly enjoyed it on my kitchen island all week. The nice thing is that I will be able to use the adorable glass pumpkin in years to come.

Thanks for coming by; hope you're enjoying your fall. We had two nights of light freeze so now all the trees are turning color overnight. yay, now if we could get some rain!

  1. Love the can! Each vigenette is super cute. Even the ones from the way back machine. I got a chuckle out of that. ;)
