The Cookbook Cupboard and a Paper Pumpkin Garland

This old cupboard is a fun spot for kitchen related vintage items along with my cookbooks and cookie jars. My scroll-y chalkboard is a constant background on this piece as it causes whatever is in front to literally pop. Fall is always a favorite season to decorate this spot, which was inspired by my kitchen china cabinet top in our last house.

My wicker wrapped white painted demijohn is a favorite decorating piece no matter the season. A metal lunch basket and a rusty metal pumpkin join in. I try to include some sort of small floral arrangement, and this season it's in a British marmalade crock. A wonderful lace pumpkin from my friends Sara and Abbey at Sweet Magnolias Farm shares the space.

I still have out pears in my wonderful antique white ironstone Harker mixing bowl. I've shared my ceramic pumpkin cookie jar that I made back in the 80's and my adorable cow cookie jar that was my maternal great-grandmother's. It used to be brightly painted but the paint finish has worn off over the years.

Unfortunately my Le Creuset covered dutch oven is mostly decorative now. It's just too heavy for me to deal with. I love it though in it's perfect creamy white. I think the color is Meringue.

I love playing with paper and especially holiday and seasonal colors. Last year I used cutout book pages for candle covers. At that time I thought it would be fun to create something with black, orange and white papers, so I located some scrapbook paper and cut out some pumpkins. That's as far as I got in mid October. But this year I thought I'd just put them together for a fun little garland in seasonal colors.

It was super simple (as it looks) and kiddos could make one easily. Here I used some baker's twine and just taped the paper to it. Stretched across the front of the cupboard is the perfect spot for a shorter garland.

I'll add a few more fun October Black Cat whimsical pieces soon in the cupboard.

Here are a few more posts from the Fall Cupboard and a few from the Kitchen China Cupboard.

  3. This is my lucky morning. I'm browsing for the first time in a while and the first two places I land are in Missouri. The first was in the Ozarks and now here in Springsfield. So, good morning from the Bootheel of Missouri. I enjoyed your fall post and will stop by again.
