My go-to quilt for late summer on the white wicker settee is one I found last year on Amazon that's a bold Boho patchwork with golds, greens, burgundy and teals. It's perfect as a background for sunflower themes.
I made the brown floral pillows about 10 years ago and with a khaki ticking stripe, they pair well with the quilt and botanical sunflower pillow.
I'm using one of my favorite vintage crate/trays that's filled with some majolica pitchers, and vintage garden books. My medium size white washed olive bucket is the perfect size for a faux late summer sunflower arrangement. The two little leaf plates are vintage.
My dried sunflower late summer/ early fall twig wreath is a reminder that fall is really on it's way. I was out today and actually saw that some of the tree leaves are showing a tinge of color. The dogwoods are first to make the change. I always get excited when I see the leaves starting to show some reds and gold.
You can't really see the wired metal basket under the coffee table, so I brought it up on the wicker chair.
Bee skeps on the vintage chippy step stool.
Here's the baker's rack with some late summer majolica pitchers and teapots.
I love using pears for bowl filler in late summer. It's a bit early for me to bring out the pumpkins, but just give it a week or two.
My wooden "seed" box is back filled with majolica plates, a vintage fruit wall hanger, seed packets and a vintage candy tin. Below is a vintage harvest apple biscuit jar.
Here are a few more posts on late summer/ early fall.
Are you ready for fall or are you dug in to summer?
Maybe we can do both...
*After about 10 years with my email notification company; they have given me three weeks to come up with an alternative to letting you know about new posts. They are closing shop and I've been searching for alternatives. Most of the current email addresses are defunct or degraded, so for now I'm starting over with "MailChimp". If you'd like to receive notices I'm letting you know that it will need a new signup. I'm so I'm sorry to ask, but if you would like a notification I'd appreciate you signing up again. I usually post mid-week, so be sure and stop by for the latest. You'll find the sign up as you scroll down my blog (on the right). Thanks everyone, please bear with me while I learn this new system!!
Good morning Debra. I have mail chimp as I had to upgrade because anything free now is gone. I will go down and resign up to receive notifications from you. Have a great rest of the week. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeleteSo pretty. Love the colors. Very welcoming.
ReplyDeleteThe books are such a nice touch and I love your pillows and sunflowers!
ReplyDeleteDebra, I always enjoy seeing how your style this space. Love the quilt and pillows and al the garden theme. Like you, I'm transitioning into a bit of fall decor. I'm ready for cooler temps.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my post on the picnic. It was truly lovely! As to your concern about the house so close to the water : It's a controlled river with water that comes from a reservoir upstream. It rises and lowers somewhat, but never more than a foot or so onto the grassy bank. I, too, had the same thought the first time I visited.
