Old World Nature Inspired Urn

Hi Friends, I'm sharing some of my favorite Fall and Thanksgiving inspiration posts from previous years, along with new posts with some fun ideas for making the transition of Fall and Thanksgiving to Christmas. Here's a magazine inspiration urn I put together several years ago from when I picked up a Victoria Magazine Special Edition, called Victoria Classic French Cottage . 

My house tends to run neutrals with antique painted and wood furniture pieces that I can change up easily with the seasons and holidays. And my many years in the vintage market scene have enabled me to collect and curate collectibles and vintage pieces that I love using and to create a vibe that runs English Country, French Country and American farmhouse/cottage.

In the fall and winter I prefer a cozy vintage vibe that lends itself to darker colors and natural elements. When I saw this amazing antique urn filled with a grouping of natural elements, I knew I wanted to try my own spin on it.

  

This was just an inspiration for me, as this urn creation was huge and honestly a tad bit dark and creepy, but wonderful at the same time. I wanted more woodsy naturals along with just a few deer antlers.

There are a few things in there that remind me of the "Twilight Zone",

so I went rather light on the antler factor.

After putting my interpretation together to display on the coffee table, I then photograped it on the Dining Room table to see it more clearly. Then later I made a new spot for it here it the Entry.

Here, I'm using a Pottery Barn urn that I bought about 12 years ago, but this look could be created in a basket, tureen, dough bowl or tray. If you had space in a dough bowl a hurricane candle centered would also be gorgeous. 

Basically, my version is two sets of shed deer antlers,

A few garland pieces,

some preserved leaves,

a few pine cones,

a nest or two,

and some of my fine (faux) feathered friends.

 Momma Cardinal is keeping watch over the territory,

so she needed to be on the highest perch.

Nature provides the most amazing inspiration!
