October Entry With the Snow Owls

I think we all have favorite décor pieces that have some sentimental significance for each season. I bring them out each year, but I do try to move them around and at least be a bit creative by using them in different settings and rooms.
The Snow Owls aka known as Glitter Owls are some of my favorite fall pieces to play with. I created them about 10 years ago at our first blogging house, and they were the main attraction of my late October mantel. I'll share a few links to those early blog posts at the end of the post.

As with most of my decorating, this entry area is frequently changing. It's a fun spot to change up prints and florals for the everchanging nuances of the seasons.

My "frenchy" vase has late season faux hydrangeas with fall florals and leaves added.

You may wonder why the smaller owl is sitting in a vintage painted clay pot... she unfortunately suffered an unfortunate accident many years ago at the hands of my husband. (dish and breakables nemisis) Anyway, we're hiding her untimely disability so she can join in with the rest of the group.

I bought this "chalkboard" print years ago from a fellow blogger's print shop, which is one of my fall mantras. I LOVE pumpkin everything and never met a pumpkin latte that I didn't love.

A candle gifted from my daughter. Are you like me and hate to "use" expensive gifts? The textured glass jar is so pretty.

These little owl guys are so cute, they make me smile. And for me that's what decorating should be about. Surround yourself with items and furniture that make you feel good, and reflect your personality.

I'm crazy about little critters; always have been, and love being "in nature". They bring me joy in life. They can be messy and troublesome at times, but watching "nature" in my little area of the world is a blessing. I feel a deep kinship with Beatrix Potter. Now if I could just paint...

The soft maples are showing fall color changes, but most other trees are just now starting to change. We're having a bout with late summer temps but we're on the fall rollercoaster with highs at the end of the week in the 50's again.

Thanks for coming by, friends. I hope you're having a lovely October. Be sure and come back by this Saturday when I'll be sharing some of my pieces of Amber Colored Glass with a group of blogging friends, and then next Tuesday when we're sharing our Fall trays.

  2. There are few things of yours (the cart) and others that I look forward to see in different seasons. These owls are always a sweet touch...and I loved when you used them with the wildlife theme for winter. Hugs, Sandi
