The Fall Season brings out the creative vibes for me more than any other season. Here's a centerpiece I put together last Fall on the farmtable in the Garden Room. I knew I wanted to try something different on the farm table for early Fall for a centerpiece. I usually have my big wooden vintage ice cream bucket filled with faux florals, and I love it... just wanted something a bit different. When I find something that works well in a space I sometimes get a little lazy and do the minimum. But after my vintage shopping trip a while back I had some new inspiration and ideas to try.
There were a lot of baskets and urns filled with pumpkins at the shops, so I thought I'd give this old gray washed vintage laundry basket a try. I filled it up with real and faux pumpkins, leaves and florals. I love this lighter early Fall palette with neutrals and light golds.
You can see the wooden bucket on the small desk filled with faux hydrangeas and preserved leaf stems. It's perfect for seasonal florals and stems.
The china cupboard in the background is filled with my mismatched Brown Transferware that isn't currently being used in the Holiday Cupboard. I used my burlap stenciled sacks sewn together for a French country look table runner.
I usually save my small Amazon cardboard boxes to use as risers for baskets and wagons. I stack some up and then cover them with either moss or burlap, or in this case some grain sacks. That elevates the pumpkins instead of getting stuck in the bottom of the basket.
The large white Cinderella pumpkin is real and fits perfectly as the focal point. I then added some faux chalk painted gourds and small pumpkins to balance out. The neutral pumpkins keep the palette soft and light.
I love having pumpkins and mums out on the front porch in Fall, but the naughty squirrels love to attack them for dinner. Clear spray paint as a sealer just hasn't worked deterring these hard-core rascals. I've learned my lesson, so I'm keeping the larger more expensive ones inside.
With the high ceilings out here in the Garden Room and the larger farm table, there needs to be something sizeable for a centerpiece and table decor. Small items, unless corralled in a tray or crate, can be easily lost.
I hope you all are having a good week. I'm ready for those typical brisk fall days that bring on some beautiful leaf color.

Love it Debra. I love that you use my favorite white along with subtle color in your fall. Have a great weekend. Hugs. Kris
ReplyDeletethanks Kris, too much color in early fall when it's hot just doesn't feel right. Happy weekend!
DeleteWhat an absolutely gorgeous centerpiece Debra. I sent you an email yesterday. It may have gotten lost in spam. :)
ReplyDeletethanks Laura, I appreciate you tracking me down!!
Deletewell, thanks so much Jeanie! I can't do all white, but I love mixing neutrals with a bit of color, especially in early fall. Happy weekend, friend!
ReplyDeleteI really like that! I think I have YET to do a wholly neutral look for fall but I so love it. I wondered what you used to fill your basket, was thinking crumpled paper or bubble wrap. The small Amazon boxes are a good idea. I may need to go out to my pile sitting beside my trashcan in the garage, lol. I like the colors in the faux florals behind the basket too. A really pleasing combo to the eyes.
ReplyDeletethanks Rita. Yes, I've used that brown packing paper from Amazon, but the little boxes are great if you have a bigger area of fill. You should see our box hoard in the garage. My husband can't throw a good box away!
DeleteLove this Debra!!! Beautiful!
