Vintage French Seed Packet Garland

I have a fun little DIY today to share with you that will add a little something special to your spring vintage garden displays. I love ephemera, especially vintage bits and bobs of any illustrations and paper designs. AND vintage garden goods are another favorite, so here's a colorful garland that's not new under the sun, but will liven up wherever you display it.

I'm almost embarrassed to show how-to pics because this a very beginners basic project. But here is my actual process for putting this together. I used to "do-it-yourself" all day long and didn't hesitate to throw myself into bigger projects, but now I like to keep things simple and easy... and fast.

While I was taking these pics I realized the neutral background might make things a bit hard to see, but I was on a roll, and this was one of the only flat surfaces that I work on... so here they are. Just start with a length of gardener's twine (in this case) that will cover whatever distance you need to cover with a little "drop". This is not quite 4 feet in length. I found these little paper packets on Amazon and just taped the flap with scotch tape on the back then measured about 2 and 1/2 inches till the next one. I wanted enough packets that would be a nice variety of graphics and color.

Then flipped them over to the front side and added the color seed graphic with double scotch tape. That way I could change up the labels to veggie packets if I wanted.

Super cute and festive, fast, and easy for some vintage charm.

You could also use seam binding, ribbon, other kinds of yarn or twine, but I liked the fact that this was actual "gardener's twine. The garland adds some color and charm to the cupboard. I'll be sharing it next week, with a bird theme for May.

So many places you can use a garland, like on a shelf or mantel or even a chalkboard. I tried it out on all three, but for pics this is where it landed because of the good lighting of the garden room.
