Easter to Spring Hearth Room Mantel

Last Christmas I found a wonderful framed grainsack with a French sheep motif, and I fell in love. I knew it would be a piece I could use throughout the year, especially Christmas and Easter. As it goes, I've left it up on the mantel throughout the winter and just transitioned my mantel with changeups using topiaries, lanterns and evergreen branches.

Mantel styling isn't easy for me because I always seem to overdo it, so I try to be aware of all the things I'm piling on and usually end up trying several different looks. Often I take pics then edit down or rearrange items. I did the same this season...

Here's the Christmas mantel version with ironstone pitchers, grapevine topiary cones, and white metal "house" lanterns. The sheep fabric framed piece is definitely one I've enjoyed using. Sometimes, I keep certain elements on the mantel (or other spots) if they're working and just change up the other pieces for the seasons.

Here's the Spring mantel transformation with white "real touch" tulips in pottery vases. I'm using my ivy topiaries and my vintage Easter cutout "standups" that I use each Easter. This view has faux forsythia sprigs added, but I tried another version without.

I like to use old books to vary the height of objects, and in the center, I'm using one of my antique boxes to prop up the grainsack frame. I purchased the pottery vases online from Hobby Lobby recently. I had purchased the large version several years ago, so I found another one so that I can use them as a pair. The ones I'm using here are the medium size.

I love these amazing real look tulips and ordered several bunches and spread them around the house for this spring. 

Here's the version without the forsythia. I like them both, but without the forsythia the mantel was less cluttered and busy, visually.

I imagine I'll use this same version of the mantel for "Spring" after Easter by just taking off the animal cutouts. Instant "Spring". 

I have my "Bloomin' 'Brella" on the hearth this year. It's fun to use it hanging from the cupboard or leaning against my picket fence gate. Each year it ends up someplace new. I put it together about 8 years ago for a fun and colorful Spring bouquet with a floral vintage umbrella I had found.
