Welcome to February...
let's have some fun in the Holiday Cupboard!
Do you have a favorite place to "putter" with decor? I've mentioned before how much I love playing in this cupboard with dishes and knick knacks. It goes back to my old days of having vintage goods spaces where every inch was fair game to "decorate" for holidays and seasons. Besides, it's good therapy for me to design and create with dishes and ephemera. And since it's Valentine's Day I'm gathering all things floral, sweet, pink, and teensy bits of red!
I have a few pieces of vintage floral and rosy china, teapots and ephemera that I like to mix in with other transferware and ironstone. This is the time of year that I bring them out and have fun displaying all the romantic elements in the Holiday Cupboard.
I found these lovely little quilted fabric puffy hearts embellished with lace, ribbons, and buttons last year on Etsy. A few vintage postcards from the 20s and 30s are sprinkled around.
Long before blogging, I loved making small cross-stitch pieces for holidays. I always had a small project going, waiting in my basket next to my recliner.
Did you catch my post on "How to Make a Moss Heart"?
I love doing seasonal and holiday styling in my cupboard, and you can create a holiday look on any shelf, cabinet or tabletop with a few easy pieces. Just look for color related items. They don't have to be specific or holiday related. For Valentine's Day just look for pinks and reds and items with hearts and flowers. White dishes and china pieces are always a great backdrop for any holiday display.
Here are a few past posts with Valentine versions of the Holiday Cupboard.
Hope you'll come by the link party on Monday evenings.

I'm remembering the "good therapy" line the next time Rick gets on me about holiday decor clutter! (This is why we live in separate houses.) I love this, Debra. I love all the touches and sweet things but perhaps what I loved most was your attention to detail with the ribbon around the sheep's neck.
ReplyDeleteThankyou, Jeanie, I have to have some excuse!! LOL
DeleteSweet decor and I love those little heart pillows. Your mouse/lamb is adorable. Whatever he is he is so cute. Have a great rest of the week. xoxo Kris
ReplyDeleteThanks Kris, I'm one of those people that like real mice too. just as long as there isn't more than one. LOL xoxo
DeleteQuite beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHow fun, Debra. You make me want to go to my storage unit and pull things out! I can't even remember what colors transferware I have, but I think mostly blk & white and brown & white. I am still using restraint in decorating my bookcase (my version of holiday cupboard), just using a few pieces here and there. I love your cross-stitch. Things like that make my heart skip a beat. I do think the little guy looks more like a mouse {sorry}.
ReplyDeletehmmm, I'm not sure I know much about "restraint", LOL. My sis texted me after this post and said "mouse". eeeeck.
DeleteIt's a Lamouse! They've only been seen in the wilderness and only by passersby with special glasses. They are kin to the ROUS but obviously in a much smaller size. ;) Love every inch of your cabinet! It's like gazing in a doll house where you want to stare and touch each piece. So beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely styling as always, Debra! You have the prettiest collection of vintage dishes. I love how nicely they all pair together. Such a beautiful display for this lovely month!
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous, love all of yur transferware.
ReplyDeleteHey Wendy, thanks so much I'm hoping that the comment gadget didn't treat you badly! LOL.
DeleteOh, so very festive! I was drawn to the vintage post cards - nice touch!
ReplyDeleteJust like always Debra you nailed it! Love the ideas.
ReplyDeleteI love the pink dishware! It's lovely. I have a few pieces - hard to find, but I'd love to add new ones. I'm always on the look out.

Hi Alexandra, thanks so much. The Pink/Red is sort of hard to find around here, but I love it!!
DeleteFound my inspiration for my cupboard. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOh that's wonderful, Jocelyn, I saw you have gorgeous rose china and a teapot! Have fun!
DeleteI love seeing transferware in homes, but do not actually own a piece myself, how sad for me. I like to think decorating is my therapy, in which case, I am not sure it is cheaper... hmm... mouse or lamb, I say he is what you want him to be. :) Thank you for sharing your inspiration with us.
ReplyDeleteI loved your combinations of everything vintage. Does your critter have a tail--if it is a long skinny one, well, oh, pooh. If he has a short puffy one, then he's a sheep. Or you can add a tail and settle the argument!!!
ReplyDeleteI just love your idea of a "holiday cupboard"--that's brilliant! And you've made yours just beautiful for Valentine's Day. I really like all the vintage items.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for joining the Grace at Home party at Imparting Grace. I'm featuring you this week!
I stared at each photo for about 3 minutes soaking up the vintage goodness! Then I got to the lamb with his tongue out and chuckled. Thanks for sharing this on Farmhouse Friday. I'm featuring it tomorrow. I love it all! Pinned
ReplyDeleteLoving all your red transferware. The whole thing is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen
