"Spring" starts making it's appearance the day after Valentine's Day around here. Moss and nests, and daffodils and crocuses start peeking out of the ground and I know that inevitably there will be 65 degree days and the promise of green grass.
Back at Christmas I brought out this garden tray for a centerpiece with one of my large white lanterns placed inside. Sometime in early January I changed out the lantern for this pottery vase filled with faux paperwhites and left the Christmas greenery, pears, hydrangeas, and flowerpots with moss. I also removed the boxwood cone topiaries and gold gilt pears so the paperwhites would take center stage.
I kept the tray with these elements until this week when I removed the Christmas greenery and added in the nests, more moss and hydrangeas with two little birds. Soon the pears will go away and more hydrangeas, sticks and pussy willows will arrive.
The Christmas Holly table runner was exchanged for this burlap stenciled "French" inspired runner. I love this burlap runner and it usually comes out in January and February. I still like burlap and linen table runners with anything "garden-y".
This is still more of a late winter look since it has evergreens mixed in.
I love using seasonal florals, fruits and grasses, leaves and berries. More moss is heading this way.
I'm using a green/white stripe linen ribbon around a bit of wattle grapevine fencing that surrounds the paperwhites. That stripe just looks like "spring" to me. Fresh and clean. green.
The birds were a last minute thought, but I'm ready for Spring, so here come some birdies and nests. I imagine you all are about ready for Spring too!
