common ground : Early Fall Entry with a Vintage Botanical Print

Hello Friends, time for an Early Fall look in the Entry since we're midway into September. The entry console changes up frequently as do most areas of the house. When we first looked at the house, now 4 years ago, the wall paper in the entry (and Dining Room) really pulled me in with it's traditional neutral taupe stripe.

This space is light filled most of the year and times of day, so it's always a lovely background for seasonal and holiday decor. The wallpaper pattern is so subtle I can use anything and any pattern with it. A white chair rail with Agreeable Gray paint below keeps it from being too busy.

I have a variety of vintage prints with frames that I love to use as a backdrop for whatever season I might be decorating for. This time of year, in early Fall, I usually end up with this vintage pear botanical print. It's golds, reddish rusts, and greens set the stage for a small vignette alongside.

Since there were apples and pears as subject matter in this print, I thought I'd use my concrete pear trio on the vintage paper mache tray. My daughter gave me this Voluspa Candle from Anthropologie last year. I love it's delicate amber embossed glass holder with a subtle Pumpkin Spice aroma.

I love using trays to corral smaller items on a table. Multiple small things can look lost if I'm not careful. I have a few of these vintage paper mache trays that I've picked up at fleas and vintage markets. This little cottage piece with delicate colors is from Japan probably from the 40's or 50's. They all say they're "Alcohol Proof" on the back, so I guess they were used for a vanity table with perfumes or for sitting beverages on a coffee table or cart.

Sunflowers are still a staple early this season, so they are part of my faux floral arrangement here in this "French Country" look cachepot. I found this vase several years ago after my real Italian one took a devastating tumble. Hydrangeas, sunflowers and a few Fall leaves mix with some sticks and cat tails in this early Fall arrangement.

An olive green and cream stripe linen wired ribbon add a little finishing touch on the vase and a bit of faux bittersweet decorates the mirror.

I've been working on putting the Fall front porch together this last week. I still have to find a few mums and pumpkins, but I did get pillows out and the wicker door basket together. I wanted to use a double ribbon with orange burlap and a smallish black/white Buffalo Check wired ribbon. I'll be sharing the front porch decked for Autumn soon. This is the season my "Bittersweet" front door really makes a statement!
