Maybe you've noticed, I have a "thing" for quilts. Big, small, throws, runners... all sizes, colors, designs and ages. I've been blessed with a mother-in-law who quilted and gifted us with many, and I've been fortunate to find a few vintage ones in my antiquing days that didn't break the bank. I love the different prints and patterns, and even if they're frayed and a bit tattered, they still speak to me.
The best place to find one here, is on the wicker settee in the Garden Room. We bought a wicker grouping back 25 years ago and at our first blogging house they were in the sunporch, then our next house they comprised a small area of the kitchen for a place to relax and put my feet up. The white wicker works so well with my other white painted vintage pieces, and the quilts and throws add the seasonal color and interest.
Late Summer/ Early Fall always says "sunflowers" and warm harvest colors, so I looked around for something a little different for that transitional time before Fall really hits... when it's still warm outside and there are flowers still blooming in the yard and roadside. I found this quilted throw on Amazon. It's the perfect size, just being a "cover up".
The bright colors and large patchwork design match perfectly with the sunflower pillow cover and the floral pillows. I've found myself using these beige Buffalo Check pillow covers during the warmer months as they tend to match with most of those quilt looks here on the settee.
The coffee table/bench out here has been through several different looks as I've experimented with different elements within the old white crate. Bowls, and the bee skep, until I finally decided to use two old crocks and some vintage clay pots. Sometimes I have to try out a few options before I hit on the right combination of objects.
This old Vanilla Wafer tin in a butterscotch/orange color is one of my favorite Fall vignette items.
I'm ready to share my Early Fall Holiday Cupboard soon. But when the doors are closed I like to keep a wreath on them for some seasonal color and natural texture.
I found it at a local vintage boutique here several years ago.
I love the ribbon combination of stripes and the orange plaid.
My old stepladder has become the perfect display piece in front of the Cupboard. This month I have a few Bee related items out. I love this natural jute skep that looks like the real vintage pieces.
When late September hits this little area will have a different look
with darker colors and textures.
*This is not a sponsored post, I just love to share the fun stuff!
I'm thinking about what I'll be using at the end of September...

Love your fall quilt Debra. Very pretty on your white wicker settee. Have a great week.
ReplyDeletethanks Kris, white wicker goes with everything and each season!
DeleteLove your quilt and timeliness of displays with sunflowers and gardening items. It's still very much summer-like so I appreciate how you keep the season in play right on time. I've been working as hard in the garden now as I was in April-June. Lots to do!
ReplyDeletethankyou Rita, I just can't go overboard on fall leaves etc. when it's still really warm outside. I thought we were over with the 90 degree temps, but no. They're back!!!!
DeleteWhat a delightful space, Debra! That quilt is a gem and I love all your cheery seasonal vignettes. Happy week!
ReplyDeletethanks so much Jeannie, I love a fun seasonal changeup!!
DeleteWe have that same patchwork quilt from Amazon in our 5th wheel.
ReplyDeleteLove your sun porch's new early-fall look, Debra! I love quilts, too, and wish I'd kept more than the one I had from Amy and Peter's single beds... They were just the right size for snuggling on the couch! Have one!! Enjoy your new one, it's very pretty!!! Love your coffee table, too. Pinned all, as usual. <3 Sharing at SYS #360 this evening for you, too. <3
ReplyDeleteHappy fall,
Barb :)
