When I found this tureen base I knew it was a very old and prestigious piece, being Blue Willow Staffordshire. It's certainly not pristine, but well used and loved with small chips and discoloration from many years of use. And then of course it was without a lid, which was probably broken many years ago. It was just the base with hairline and discolored cracks, but it grabbed my attention and I knew it would be a lovely decor piece.

In the past I've filled this tureen with seashells for display, but this time I wanted to use garden "filler" with nests, moss balls and a few old clay pots. And to accompany the blue and white theme, I have a small Ralph Lauren pottery candleholder, with a British-look Lion Coat of Arms.
The pair of "electrified" antique tole candlesticks are part of the vignette.
When I changed out the floral arrangements for mid-summer I wanted bright summer color with red geraniums, yellow sunflowers, white daisies and rudbekia. While I was at it, I put together similar arrangements for the farm table and front porch door basket.
The Entry has a reproduction console that my husband bought for me back in 2011, which had been gray, but that I painted white soon after. I love the delicate French-y scroll work. The antique round mirror stays put as does the single tall buffet lamp.
The gothic look frame adds a bit of layering. I usually keep a vintage print in front also, but this time the tureen needed center stage.
I don't usually use blue in my decor, except for pastels in the spring,
(and patriotic decor) but summer is the time to splash some color around.

DeleteYour entry table is beautiful and your floral arrangement is perfect. The pop of orange in the arrangement works well with the blue and white tureen. I’ve been thinking of carrying my blue and white into fall by adding some pops of orange or rust.

I have a few similar vessels and have struggled with what to put in them (they usually come with ugly faux flower arrangements in them). I never envisioned filling them as you have. ReplyDeleteI do not usually decorate with a lot of color either, but have been getting a bit adventurous lately trying new colors. I grew up in a blue and white home so I steered away from it for the longest time, but I have to say, my mother may have been on to something. She always said it was so calming, and I rolled my eyes as teens do, but it does have that calming affect, shh... don't tell her I admitted that!
