French Country Easter in the Dining Room

Hello Everyone, are you all ready for Easter? We'll probably have a quiet Sunday around here and just the two of us celebrating at home. I so appreciate you coming by to visit. Today I wanted to share the Dining Room decorated for Spring and Easter. Each season I seem to challenge myself with trying to find something different for a table centerpiece. I usually have my large metal Italian basket on the table, but this year for Easter I wanted a light and bright basket filled with tulips.

The dining table is big and heavy and dark, so I try to make this space as light and bright as possible. One of the ways I do that is by keeping a wide tablerunner on top. I love to change up the fabric prints throughout the seasons with corresponding color. I went looking for a new floral print for the Spring season a few weeks ago and found this wonderful large flower, brown background print. 

I have a little secret about tablerunners... I buy about 3 yards of fabric and fold it in half lengthwise, tucking in the selvedge and ironing it lengthwise. For a large table, that works; just fold over the extra fabric at each end. That's my "no-sew" tablerunner idea for a quick change up. Then if you want to use the fabric later for pillows or actually sew up a tablerunner you can easily do that. or not. I'm not crazy about sewing.

I have a vintage white wicker basket filled with those faux white tulips and my little French-y wagon on top. It's a large table so it can handle a large grouping as a centerpiece. I painted the wagon French Gray a few years ago to make it easier to coordinate with other neutral pieces. 

My big handsome guy, Mr. Bunns, is sharing the wagon with one of my ironstone tureens, a vintage bud vase, and a few vintage postcards. He has on a tie of pink polka dot ribbon to liven things up a bit. A piece of sheet moss cut to size makes a good "carpet" for my vignette pieces. 

My family washstand and antique mirror get a seasonal refresh several times a year. This year a homemade grapevine and ivy wreath adorn the mirror for some interest. And a few faux daffodils and tulips bring some Spring color. 

My little French Girl has a home here on the washstand. 

Her base had been broken years ago,

so she's sitting in a concrete antique urn.

My lamb tureen travels around the house, but can usually 

be found here for Spring. He's surrounded with a mossy, twiggy wreath.

The buffet has my white doughbowl with another tureen and a few Easter plates and vintage mini pitchers. The little velveteen rabbit is at home on the doughbowl too.

and one of the Pottery Barn lanterns with a pastel Easter ribbon.
