Vintage Cottage Weekend: Wicker Florist Baskets for Easter

Hi Friends, so glad you're here for Vintage Cottage Weekend. Amber and I are sharing some fun from past posts, mixed with our current decor, and fun ideas and inspiration on Vintage Cottage Style. Today I wanted to share some snips and snaps from a few Easter posts from the past, and where I shared vintage baskets decorated with Easter goodies. 

I've always loved baskets and have a soft spot for vintage wicker funeral or cemetery baskets. Today things are usually disposable, but years ago funeral flowers were displayed in lovely, often intricate woven wicker or metal baskets. These baskets are becoming more rare and hard to find, but are treasured by those of us that love vintage items. They are so versatile for decorating, but especially suited for spring and summer decorating as they were usually painted white. 

These photos are from our previous home in the dining room from 2015, where I put together a vintage basket filled with Easter goodies, including a print, faux flowers, a chalkware bunny, and decoupaged eggs.

You're Never too Old for an Easter Basket

The vintage basket was joining some of my Spring Cloches in the Dining Room.

These next photos are from 2013 out on our sunporch. At that house I had a small sunporch filled with white wicker seating and a lot of white chippy pieces. It was such a great place to decorate for the seasons. Here is a funeral basket with Easter goodies, faux flowers, and my book page rabbit.

filled with tips and pics for gardening in the 50's.

My baker's rack has been around since the early 90's,

where it's always been a fun spot for seasonal decor.

Quilts and pillows have always been part of my vintage decor. Changing them up with seasonal color always sets the stage for a fresh new look. I loved that little sunporch and it was my "therapy spot". A great place to refocus and find a place for creativity.

I'm using him this season out in my current sunroom; 

aka the Garden Room, on my farm table as a centerpiece.

I used the large handle of the basket to act as a topiary form

for my trailing ivy in an old McCoy planter.

As with so many vintage pieces now, if you come across an old florist basket, be sure and nab it as they are becoming so hard to find. You can use it so many fun ways for seasonal decor. And if you happen to have one... or any basket, grab a bunny and make a sweet Easter or garden vignette!
