I did a little tweaking in the Hearth Room for late Fall by bringing out my two Fall Friends to hang out on the mantel. My chippy concrete owl and the old squirrel bank took their spot of honor. Our weather has finally changed to the cooler temps that should come with the last week of October, so some darker and heavier textiles will be feeling at home in here.
I've come to the conclusion that with the poor lighting in the hearth room, my camera just does not like orange. It's difficult to take photos in here, but the orange just rankles my camera for some reason. Too much contrast I guess. Anyway, I love it in person, just not so much in pics. But Hey... October loves orange.
I also added my Halloween-ish orange and black Buffalo Check
pillow covers on the slipcovered sofa and chair.
They are sort of seasonally limited,
but they look so darn cute this time of year.
My fave brown floral pillows are paired up with the check
and black ticking pillows.
Mr. Hootz comes out in Late Fall too.
The hearth has a vintage metal basket with dried gourds,
antlers, and preserved leaves.
... and my antique rolling market basket
is filled with faux hydrangeas and leaves.
Just a few small changes that bring this space
into late fall.
I'm ready to start sharing my Thanksgiving goodies.
How about you all...?
Or are you ready for Christmas?
I like to do a mix of late Fall with Thanksgiving
and early Christmas starting in mid-November.
Hope you're having a wonderful last week of October!

Your mantel is lovely, Debra. And I know completely what you mean about October and orange. It's rarely on my color palette -- until the fall and then I adore it!
ReplyDeletethanks Jeanie, I love orange in small doses all thru the year. But after overdosing in October, I tend to give it a rest for it a bit. haha
DeleteLove your woodland animals added to the mantel. So pretty. Happy Wednesday. xoxo
ReplyDeleteI love the use of woodland animals in your decor. I suppose with the falling leaves we just notice them more. A red fox has moved into our neighborhood and deer are munching on all the fallen acorns.
ReplyDeleteYour mantel is lovely, Debra! I love seeing your olden animal figures - how sweet! I love how you've styled your sofa too! Hope all is well.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
My "good" camera has been acting up lately. I never thought about it being a color contrast issue. I love your squirrel bank and that owl pillow is a darling.
ReplyDeleteThat owl is perfectly chippy shabby! Love the mantel. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen
