A Vintage Tote and Views of the Fall Kitchen

I think I've only shared my kitchen twice before... ok maybe just once, here at the "new" house. I love this kitchen, but it's usually in the process of being busy, and I tend to be a little messy and disorganized in here. But I wanted to share a fall look for my vintage tote here on the island, so I thought I'd just go crazy and take pics of the rest of the kitchen.

I found the oh-so-cute plaid napkins at Hobby Lobby earlier this Fall, 

and then added a few ears of harvest corn and a cute fabric pumpkin.

We really use this island as our main prep and work space in here. Not to mention we eat here at the bar  at least twice a day, so it's always in use. I try to oil the butcher block wood top here every few months, but I'm behind doing that and you can see where we tend to work and then scrub down each day.

In my other post where I introduced the kitchen, I explained about the two microwaves and toaster oven. I don't like the microwave above the stove so my husband uses that one while I use the countertop one. Also he was set on getting a toaster oven and even though I didn't want the extra clutter, but we use it multiple times a day. 

Seeing the paint in the kitchen and then into the mudroom, they look very different. But really it's the same paint color. It was custom mixed at Benjamin Moore, but it's very close to Edgecomb Gray; a nice warm greige. 

It took me awhile to find the right rug, but I found this runner on Overstock.

Actually I bought two; one for here in front of the sink and one for the mudroom.

I was a little disappointed at first that I didn't get a farmhouse sink,

but actually this is a granite colored large very deep divided sink and I love it.

The planked ceiling in the kitchen and hearth room really gives

these spaces so much personality.

Even though I have a cheapo coffeemaker I take my coffee very seriously. So in the morning this counter is cluttered with all my goodies. I've had to go to decaf, but I still love a big pumpkin latte (all year round) and have come up with a combination of yummy products to put one together.

I made this ceramic pumpkin cookie jar back in 1987, when ceramics were a big rage. I used to use it every year when the girls were young, but it had been packed away for a few years. I found it again when we moved and I had the space this year, so here it is in all it's ORANGE glory.

I need to do this more often!

We're having 2 days of warm weather, then it's back to normal fall cool/rainy weather.

We've been in a mini-drought and our yard has been so dry and parched.

It's been raining for the last several days, so I'm hoping the grass will perk up

before we get a hard freeze.
