Hi Friends, we're really sliding toward Fall since it's the middle of September now. The days are cooling off here and it's getting dark much earlier... time to restyle the Holiday Cupboard for Early Fall. Just give me any excuse to restyle the HC and I'll jump on it.
In Early Fall I don't want to overwhelm things with
tons of dark leaves and heavy textures.
...those will come October/November.
I like to take the lighter approach with some Fall color
and a few dried berries added to the mix.
Lately I've tried to totally empty out the cabinet before I get started on a new theme.
(It usually needs a dust and wipe down anyway)
That way I have a blank slate not only in the cabinet, but also in my imagination.
I'm using my "new-to-me" Myotts brown transferware as a backdrop.
I hadn't been out vintage shopping this year, but I happened to find these on Ebay.
I'm enjoying decorating with these plates because
they have more variegated color than a lot of transferware.
My many odds and ends and pieces of ironstone and woodsy pottery
are mixed in here with a few faux pumpkins and fall foliage.
The small twig of bittersweet has lost it's leaves,
but it's still a keeper.
I'm pretty sure the amber colored cake pedestal was my mom's.
Just the size for a larger faux chalk painted pumpkin.
This is a strange little Japanese Majolica teapot,
with a strange little squirrel.
hmmm yeh, long cute/creepy ears.
So here's a photo of a Japanese squirrel that might explain.
Hope you're having a beautiful September.
I'll be sharing more from the Garden Room soon.
Hope you'll come by Monday evening and join in.

So Cute. I love the tea pot with the flowers on it.
ReplyDeleteI love your cabinet with the lighter colors. Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteSuch pretty dishes! And perfect for fall! :)
ReplyDeletePerfect arrangements and touches for your pretty cabinet, Debra! I like you approach of starting out a little slower and building up as October and November come upon us. The berries are the perfect festive touch and I love the platter from your mother.
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall to you!🍁
I just love your holiday cupboard. I just added brown transferware to one of my hutchs and now I know what it is missing. Weird squirrels and fall greenery.LOL
ReplyDeleteFunny about the squirrel:) I absolutely love your transferware. Every fall I see all this brown and white transferware and I make a mental note to look for it when thrifting, and then I forget!(Probably for the best if you ask my husband lol). Your cabinet is just perfect for fall. Thanks for sharing at Vintage Charm. xo Kathleen

I love that it's a "holiday cupboard" to be changed out according to the season/holiday! I don't have space in my tiny home for something like this, but I do change out my entryway to match the time of year. That amber cake plate is perfect as decorated!

You always make this cabinet so pretty. I'm not a squirrel fan, they move back and forth and never figure out where they are going. It drives me crazy.
ReplyDeleteLove your transferware and very colorful for fall.

It all just looks so gorgeous. I am in love with the cake stand and being your mother's makes it so special. Perfectly done!
ReplyDeleteIt looks so cute! Fall is my favorite season.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing all the treasures in your cupboard. Loved the Japanese squirrel picture, too! Quite evil looking with those tufted ears compared to ours!
ReplyDeleteYour holiday cupboard is gorgeous as always Paula! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at Farmhouse Friday!
ReplyDeleteExcuse me, I called you Paula instead of Debra! So sorry about that - my brain is frazzled this week!
ReplyDeleteI always love seeing how you decorate your cupboard for the seasons! ~ Kristin | White Arrows Home
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Just enough. I have a built in china cabinet and I like to leave the doors open so you’ve given me some ideas.
