French Farmhouse Table in the Dining Room

My last post I was telling you all about my after Christmas need for a more neutral palette. I always love a lot of color at the Holidays and I sort of overdid it this year here at the new place. I'm kinda over red/green for now. I'll be ready for some red again next month for Valentine's Day, but for now, my eyeballs need a break.

I'm generally a "symmetrical" person, which means that I need balance in my decor. I've tried several times to do something else, but I just end up moving things back around so I don't feel lopsided. I wanted to try to use these heavy iron urns here on the table, but it took me forever to come up with an idea of what to put inside them. I could have left them empty, but that didn't look right. So after a few days of trial and error I ended up with a small grapevine wreath with ivy added, then a moss orb on top. I would like to have had a larger moss ball, but I didn't want to try to track something bigger down. I made do with what I had. 

I received this table runner years ago from a fellow blogger and I've always loved using it in the early winter months. It has the perfect neutral French-y look. I love using it layered on another piece of grainsack fabric for some extra width.

My large oval ironstone tureen on a platter felt right being in the center.

But it was a little bland, so I used the bendable fruit wreath

that I'd used for Christmas.

"Less is more" worked on the buffet too. I usually have this cluttered up

but today I'm just using a couple of large mercury glass candles

 on either side of the PB urn,

 a cloche, and compote with a nest.

This Dining Room is larger than the last, but since all this furniture is visually heavy,

it fills up the space. I like this little wire plant stand, since it doesn't take up space,

 but gives me another place to add a few pieces. 

This little corner didn't change much but the pears replaced the little evergreen tree

that was here for Christmas.

The Metal Basket filled with Hydrangeas is waiting for Spring.

I'm finally getting better with this crazy cold/sore throat viral thing.

I haven't been sick-sick, just fatigued (more than usual)

and a nagging dry cough. Hope it's gone; 

I hear a lot of people have had this.
