Decorating the Sideboard for Christmas

This week I've been sharing Christmas in the Hearth Room, so next I wanted to show you the rest of the room and the antique sideboard. I've always loved the little curved shelf above the mirror, but this is my first time actually decorating it for the Christmas Holiday. A few little British crocks, some white reindeer, and bottle brush trees keep it light, bright and lots of fun.

The ironstone tureen is filled with vintage ornaments and Shiny Brites in silver and gold. I used to use these on my white tree, but since a tree just didn't happen this year I'm doing the next best thing and piling them in ironstone.

I found the taller wire trees at Hobby Lobby this year. I've only been once this season, so my new Christmas decor has been limited. That's OK, I've had plenty of things to sort thru, but I have one box I cannot find with my Santa and gingerbread man. They've escaped. I'm sure I'll find them in July.

This is a long wall and the Cookbook Nook and Cupboard is just to the right of this. The old picket fence gate was in the Kitchen Sitting area at the last house. It always had something hanging off it before, now it's a backdrop for the baskets that got a white wash earlier this year.

Here are more pics of the Hearth Room dressed casually for Christmas. I didn't do anything fancy  (or very creative) this year. I've kept it simple and cozy. There's a lot of furniture in this space but to me it's just more comfy and relaxed.

We're about done with this phase of the landscape work. I still have some replanting to do, but we'll get that done in the Spring. Things are looking much cleaner, newer, and more pulled together. I told my hubby that I wouldn't be embarrassed to have people over now. Before, there was a very high cringe factor. It was downright horrible. I found myself apologizing to anyone and everyone that came to the front door. I'll take some pics when the weather is better.
