Christmas in the Cookbook Nook

Say Hello to my newest Christmas friend, courtesy of my sister as an early Christmas present. He's so adorable and woodsy I just needed to show him off. I'd been looking for a reindeer for awhile, thinking twiggy or mossy, but this guy is perfect. His grassy covering looks like real reindeer fur. He's a cutie.

I'm not ever sure what to call this old cupboard/shelves thingy. I bought it to display vintage merchandise at one of my market spaces about 12 years ago. It was really rough when I found it but we added trim and painted it white. When it came time to close down my space I just couldn't sell it. I used it to store quilts awhile back and when we moved here I realized it might be a good place to house cookbooks and kitchen kitsch.

So it's here on the long wall of the Hearth Room / Kitchen housing all kinds of seasonal stuff 

and my cookbooks (old and outdated as they are)

The main attraction, other than my reindeer, are/is my vintage British Biscuit tins. I've collected these few since I've been flea-ing over the years, but I'm always on the lookout for anything plaid or Scottish looking. My maternal great grandmother was Scottish, from the Cameron Clan, so I guess I come by it naturally.

My daughter brought me back the modern Walkers tin 

shaped like a truck from England a while back.

I was hooked on them till I found out I was allergic to gluten.

My vintage red plaid Tartan umbrella fits right in with the rest of the theme.

and my little British "foxy" rider is taking a break.

I keep my cottage cookie jars and salt and pepper set out year round.
