Late Summer Baker's Rack

I gave myself a little challenge...

and that was to create a late Summer/ early Fall Baker's Rack using colors of the season,

without using Pumpkins. So instead of any kind of squash or gourd

 I used another Fall Favorite; Pears.

In mid August I always gravitate to the deeper hues of late Summer... Golds, Greens, Orange, Brown, and deep Reds. When I was taking inventory of my Fall florals, decor and pumpkins last week, I mentioned that in some spots I want a neutral palette, but in others I want some fun seasonal Fall color.

One spot I always like to use seasonal "color" is on my Baker's Rack.

I haven't shared it much since living in this new place because I have some great new spots to decorate. So I thought I'd give it the treatment with seasonal colors for this time of year. I'm in the process of giving my house the "Fall Lite" look, which means some Fall colors with whites and neutrals as a base and added in. 

I'm using a lot of vintage pieces here, like always. The Baker's Rack is just the right size for small vignettes that all work together with color and purpose. The larger round metal tray is ringed with fruit in Harvest-y colors, the old orange plaid Thermos, an English Cottage Teapot filled with a tussy mussy, and a pair of orange pottery cups and saucers from Paden City Pottery in "Caliente". (I just googled the mark on the back of the saucer and found out about these. They were produced in West Virginia in the 30's to 50's)

Here's my old Seed Box that's a staple here on the Baker's Rack. 

An old Fiesta Pottery Teapot, small Windsor Ware Garden Bouquet Transferware Platter from Johnson Brothers, and a Vintage Twinings Orange Pekoe Tea tin.
I like to bring out some spicy orange this time of year.

This is one of the home made Seed Boxes I made several years ago,

using calendar graphics and old wooden cigar boxes.

It's looking a little beat up, but I love the old patina.

And you know I love chipmunks.

An old European grain sack is covering the wicker rocker,

with a Sunflower pillow and a pieced and quilted one.
