Garden Room with Sunflowers and Ticking

Hello Friends! I've had a few posts where I've added some Sunflowers to the decor, so I thought I'd share the latest in The Garden Room on the church pew, and a few more pics of the Farm table with Sunflowers in the Ice Cream Bucket.

I was so excited when I knew I'd be able to use my old church pew again, here at the new place. I'd had it downstairs in "storage". It was never changed out for the seasons and basically it was a cat perch under the window. I'd thought about letting it go, but held on hoping that at some point it would have a good spot again.

So now August and Late Summer have arrived
and it's getting a little more attention with a needlepoint Sunflower pillow and a few friends.

These two black background pillows were found at flea markets over the years,
and the big one has a very dark brown background
with some wonderful cording around the edge.

I just love these old pillows from the 30's and 40's that have embroidered
floral scenes. I have a white one with flowers from the 30's, too.
They've amazingly stayed in good shape with no holes or tatters.
And you all know how much I love a good ticking stripe...goes with anything.

You can usually find my little antique rocking horse in this spot now.
It used to come out only at Christmas, but now that there's room, he's here.

This wall is directly behind the fireplace in the Hearth Room.
I'm hoping at some time to psyche myself up for painting
all the brick white (or a light gray) in the Garden Room.
It will be a big job, so I'm not in a big hurry.

I shared my Farm table in the Mini Home Tour last week,
so here are a few more pics with a little Country French Vignette on a tray.

This little bouquet in the white ironstone pitcher is made up of my mini Zinnias, variegated Marigolds, and some pink Coleus from the back yard containers. It looks so sweet, but doesn't smell very sweet. I read where Marigolds are an insect repellent and maybe that has helped a little.

I've meant to take some pics of my containers filled with flowers; the flowers have been really pretty this year. I was even able to have the Petunias flourish for once. They've just about taken over!

My favorite dishes for Fall are always Brown Transferware.
The luncheon plates are Johnston Brothers Harvest Time
and I'm not sure of the pattern of the cups.
anyone know?
They just say "Made in England" on the bottom.

The precious little bovine is Staffordshire and I use the fois bois pear pitcher
Spring through Fall, where it's usually on my Baker's Rack.

Things are changing a little around the house,
it will be Fall pretty quickly.
This time of year I'm all about planning Fall Decor.
I escaped and did some shopping on Friday
so right now it's spread all over the table.
I'll share pics of what I found later in the week.

  4. I love your late summer look on the pew/bench and the farm table. You should definitely take photos of the landscape, both your containers for their wow and the beds for their 'before' look. Once you do the work to clean them it'll be a great look back.

  5. Adorable. If you paint your brick, I’ll paint mine. I’d love to paint it. Ours is not a bad color. It’s similar to yours which is why it’s never been painted.

  9. So pretty, Debra! Love your fall china pieces with the sunflowers and marigolds. I've seen your teacups before but couldn't tell you the patterns name. If you knew what pottery, that might be a help. The church pew looks terrific with the ticking stripes and dark pillows mixed together!!!

    Happy decorating,
    Barb :)
