The French Chef and a Patriotic Church Pew

I'd had so many things stashed away in the bar area downstairs that I'd lost track of them all. But as I packed them up earlier this Spring, I tried to make mental lists of paint projects and things I wanted to work on once we unpacked and settled in. One of my projects on the to-do list was to give a paint update to my Little French Chef. He'd been living downstairs in obscurity. 

Here he is... still a pretty cute guy, but I knew he needed a little fix up to go with the new lighter look here at the new place.

The small chalkboard needed something fresh too.

Easy to guess that he would get hit with the magic paintbrush.

The chalkboard was now too dark and stark, so I just painted over it.

Then I printed out a frenchy menu graphic to cover the chalkboard.

Last week I started adding a little Patriotic color to the Garden Room, without going overboard here on the tabletop.  I bought this wonderful vintage demi-john that had been painted white, last year, and used these flags to give a nod to the 4th. The demi-john had been on our coffee table at the other house, but didn't work here because it was too big to see the TV for hubby. It came out here on the table instead.

I've been using this little tray to keep things organized here on the table, 

since there's always some little something added to the mix.

I snipped these Hydrangea blooms and knockout roses for a small floral display. These little Hydrangeas started out white and are now changing color, slowly going thru blues and lavender. 

My old church pew had also been downstairs in an area that was basically "glorified storage", but now I get to decorate it for holidays and the seasons. I also changed up the large vintage floral print above the pew for my red toile "Aviary" canvas. 

I really cannot believe that it's almost July... JULY!  It's been such a wacky summer with all the gloom, rain, and bad weather. August 1st I secretly start my countdown to Fall. You all know me, and know how I love Fall and the fun decorating that goes with it. I may be a little more patient with Summer this year, because things are so green around here. But we're running way behind on getting work started on the landscaping, so that job won't be done anytime in the very near future. Oh well, it takes time and we have a lot of projects.
