It's been 6 years since I've been able to decorate a sunporch for July 4th festivities. So this year, having a sunroom again, it has been especially fun pulling out the patriotic and red/white/blue decor.
I have some fun vintage pieces that are really just "Summer" related,
so I added them to the mix.
I found this fruit crate a few weeks ago, and I let that be the base for an old kitchen tin
filled with cooking utensils and my grandmother's Hull Apple Cookie Jar.
The rest of the Hull set is on the top shelf of the Baker's Rack. I remember my grandmother having the set with the "Lard/Grease Jar" and the Salt and Pepper shakers on the gas stove top. Thinking about the grease jar makes me queasy today considering that I stay far far away from grease and only use Olive Oil, sparingly.
The teapot is one of my few pieces of Majolica, but it does have a chip on the spout. I love the colors and the two small pitchers are Japanese Majolica, but have the same color theme.
This year I used my red/white vintage quilt and an extra set of pillows I had made that match a sofa set that I sold when we moved from our next to last house. I still love these pillows and "red" for a Summer accent color.
You can see that I'm using the pie safe as an ironstone and pottery cupboard at the moment.
It's stuffed to the brim... top and bottom.
Many of the red wooden handled vintage cooking utensils were my grandmother's too.
I've added on to the collection through the years when I've found a red piece.
I vividly remember her mashing potatoes with the masher in the tin.
Here are a few pics from the past
of my Patriotic Sunporch and Sitting Room.
As you can tell, I've always loved decorating for the 4th of July!
