Vintage Easter Joys Blog Hop

Hello Everyone, Happy Easter Week! We've gathered 12 Vintage Lovin' Bloggers together to Celebrate Easter and Spring this week. No matter what the weather, we're all decorated and ready to share the fun of Easter, with a vintage twist.

Amber from Follow the Yellow Brick Home has put together this fun group and we're excited to share all our ideas and inspiration with all of you. If you're coming from Cecilia's Blog, My Thriftstore Addiction, Welcome, I'm so glad you're here.

I used to have several spaces in local vintage and flea markets. I was perpetually on the hunt for inventory, so I was always on the lookout for vintage Holiday pieces. I found these little old handmade cloth bunnies that had been very loved and worn, and fell in love. Before moving here, I had a lot of storage space at home and lot's of room to display all my vintage Holiday pieces. When we moved I boxed up so many things, and unfortunately many of them are still in a storage unit packed lovingly away since I'm so limited at this house. But, I'll find you again, Little Bunnies!

I found these photos from 2011 on my old sunporch, and wanted to share them with you anyway. The sweet face and eyes on this precious little guy just melt my heart.

These are some pics from 2012 on my porch when I put together an Easter Basket filled with old garden tools and a garden magazine. I love old wicker cemetery baskets and this one is trailing ivy among the faux Forsythia.

At this house I have my Baker's Rack in the Kitchen Sitting Room, so it's usually the place where all the small vintage pieces take up residence. This is how it looks right now, readied for Easter.

I bought this old print of a vintage Easter Postcard from a friend and put it inside this vintage plaster frame. And speaking of postcards, I seem to have more Easter post cards than any other holiday, I have most of them on display this year throughout the house.

On to the Dining Room and my table, that is home for my French Gray Wagon this season. Handsome Mr. Rabbit is happy in his wagon and among the garden tools and clay pots. He thinks it doesn't hurt to have a Paperwhite nibble on the sly.

These two concrete sheep are very old and very heavy!
They're always on the scene for Easter and Christmas.

This season I wanted to do something reflecting the real reason for Celebrating Easter, and that was to display a few of my religious pieces within my large cloches. Usually they are filled with flowers, old china, and bunnies, but this year I felt like they would perfectly represent the meaning of Resurrection Sunday.

A painting of Jesus by C. Bosseran Chambers, from the 1920's. He was a very prolific painter for the Catholic Church, and also did portraiture on the side. When you have a moment, you can look him up and see all the wonderful religious paintings he has painted.

When I found this vintage chalk statue of Jesus it was in vivid colors; I believe it was from Mexico. I kept it that way for a long time, but realized that for me to use it, I would have to tone down the color. I'm glad I went ahead, because I keep this statue in my studio next to the little print above.

I think most families had one of these versions of "The Praying Hands" during the 40's and 50's. This one may have been a woodworking project for someone. I think that the base and cross were handmade.

The old Bible was published in 1943. My husband has a collection of old Military Bibles. I have this one open to John 3:16. The crucifix is probably a little newer, along with one of my vintage sheep.

You may have seen my Entry this year in one of my earlier posts. I'm using my moss covered cross again this year after giving it a refresh with new moss and faux Lilies and Gladiola. My "O" initial is here and the iron urn has a mix of Paperwhites and Pussy Willow.

This little mirrored print is of Jesus as a child, carrying a lamb.

Thank you so much for coming by to visit. I would love to have you as a regular reader, if you'd like to sign up to have an email announcement of my posts you can find it on the sidebar. Next hop is on over to Amber's at Follow the Yellow Brick Home. She has a beautiful home filled with vintage goodness. I'm looking forward to see how she's decorated for Easter. I'll see you there!

  4. If these are your unpacked things, Debra, I can't begin to imagine all you have packed! That is quite the treasure trove. Of course, I'm such a sucker for bunnies, so all those had me captivated, but then so much did!

  13. I've got a white, handled basket just like yours, Debra! My mother-in-law used it for her wedding. I should pull that out for spring... Your decor is lovely!

  14. Debra, everything in this post is a reminder of why I love your blog so much: such incredible vintage finds, a terrific knack for styling, and meaning for why you love and use rhe things you do . The religious displays you've chosen are beautiful. We had that image of Jesus by Chambers in our home when I was growing up. What a great variety of displays through your entire home! Happy Easter, my friend.

  15. I love bunnies and chicks as much as the next guy, but I especially liked your religious vignettes. I have bits and pieces scattered throughout my home, but using things in a vignette really makes much more of an impact. Your baker's rack in the sunshine makes my long for more sun (and a dose of spring fever!) here. Happy Easter!

  16. Just wanted to let you know this is why I am unsubscribing from your blog. Your rant at ASH Tree Cottage was hateful and disgusting. You are certainly not the person I thought you was. BYE BYE

Even though, this on the surface seems just a "sex thing" in reality it's the tip of the iceberg that has to be investigated because of unlawful monetary transactions and campaign contributions. I don't think any of us are surprised by Trump's lack of morals and decency, but that's not the issue here. It's one of a coverup and illegal money transaction, not to mention thuggery and threats and intimidation. It seems he ran his businesses on the edge of the law and has lied his way into office. People who voted for him wanted jobs and increased economy, but he's proved you cannot run the country and adhere to unethical and immoral actions. It all boils down to money and illegal contracts. that's the issue, not sex.

  17. Debra, I thought I left a comment on this last week, but I'm not seeing it. Everything you do is always so tasteful! I love your beautiful religious vignettes. That's something I don't have much of. Makes us stop and think about what the Easter celebration is all about! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
