A Nature Themed Kitchen Cupboard

Smaller house equals less spaces to decorate, and that goes for Christmas decorating too. So I have to think "inside the box". This box would be inside the Kitchen China Cupboard, which at the old house never was decorated for anything. But here, it does double duty as the home of my Brown and Red Transferware and a stand in for my "Holiday Cupboard" which used to be in the basement family room at our previous home.

Sorry for the wood strip door divider here in the middle that obscures the view. When we bought this set 16 years ago, I was also looking at a hutch and dresser, but the colors were a little off so I went with the full cabinet instead. I've second guessed myself on that decision many times. ah well, that's the way it is. More room for dish display!

If you remember Christmas Decor at our previous home, you know I had the energy then to go "all out". There wasn't a corner left unadorned! My "Holiday Cupboard" was sold before we moved to the lease house to renovate the house. And gosh, I hated to say goodbye to it. I had so much fun decorating it over the years, but now, like I said I have to add in a little decor here besides just the dishes. 

Transferware is easy to decorate for the Seasons and Holidays. I wish I had more red, but I'm always on the lookout for pieces with a good price. Most everything I have is mix and match from the Vintage Markets and Fleas.

This is our 4th Christmas here, and each time, I've tried to decorate it a little differently. This year I used a nature theme with some vintage Shiny Brites in gold and silver. 

Winter fruit and faux greens, with painted pinecones, moss, birdies, and glitter deer.

An old sugar bowl and creamer become perfect nesting spots.

And maybe an ironstone tureen becomes a soft mossy spot for a little lamb.

Even the birdies celebrate Christmas!
