A Mixed-Up Christmas Brunch

Last year I put together a fun little Christmas Brunch Tablescape here in the kitchen. Of course, it featured Plaid and my Red Transferware, but this year I thought I'd mix it up a bit. I have a few place settings of Green Transferware that I usually keep in the cupboard that only come out in Spring or at Easter.

Doesn't Christmas traditionally = RED + GREEN ?

Pam from Everyday Living gave me this great idea of using wrapping paper as a tablecloth /tablerunner. We have a new HomeGoods here in town (oh yay) and I went a little nutty shopping all the plaid. I found this wonderful traditional Tartan wrapping paper there; only problem is that tape won't stick to it. So using it to actually wrap gifts... doesn't work so well. But it works great as a tablerunner! Anyone else have this happen?

So back to mixing it up with Transferware. When I first started blogging and was introduced to the idea of mixing china patterns I was in heaven. You're kidding me... you can mix china up and not get chastised as being a bum of a hostess? A few rules apply like same color family or theme etc., but still a fun new way to use vintage china.

In all honesty, I can't see this working except for Christmas.

But I thought I'd go all out, and not only mix patterns, but colors too.

Having the Red Plaid "tablerunner" underneath helps tie it all together.

I used my little wooden sleigh filled with bottle brush trees as a small centerpiece. It's just the right size and I still have room for some greenery, Putz Houses, and mercury glass votive candleholders.

I'm using vintage tea towels for placemats that double later as a napkin.

Everyday flatware and Libby Green water glasses make it a super easy little tablescape.
