Grateful Gatherings Blog Hop

Hi Everyone! Can you actually believe it's November and we're counting down the days to Thanksgiving then Christmas? The Holidays will be here before we know it! Today, I'm so excited to join in with a fun group of bloggers put together by Amber from Follow the Yellow Brick Home as we share our homes and decor with Thanksgiving in mind.

Here we are in the Entry Hall just inside the door, where I always have it decorated for the Holiday or Season. Recently I put together an Autumn floral arrangement with a vintage metal Cemetery Basket. I like to feature a print that keeps with the Season. Since it's Thanksgiving, I'm sharing an old French print, The Angelus, by Jean Francois Millet.

Using "naturals"; faux foliage and florals is my usual way to decorate, no matter the season. The little turkey planter and old tin are just a few pieces of vintage that I enjoy decorating with. Coming from a background of dealing in antiques and vintage goods, I've collected way too many pieces that I love to rotate, mix and match. 

My antique rolling market basket is always filled with Hydrangeas

 and foliage of the Season.

My Dining Room is small, but feels more spacious because of the open area and high ceilings. I like to keep a vignette on the Dining table, usually including this metal basket. I've layered grainsack linens, for a darker more earthy look for late Fall. An Ironstone Tureen, metal pumpkin, candlesticks, and Mr. Turkey all gather on an antique Belgian Tapestry.

I found this wonderful antique fishing basket a few weeks ago. 

Here it's filled with Fall foliage and sitting next to an embroidered footstool

 layered in plaid wool blankets.

The curvy armoire houses our television. The Country French lines work here in the Living Room, even though it's part of the set of our Master Bedroom furniture. The best part is that the tv is hidden during the daytime. The neutral linen Chesterfield sofa and loveseat get brown floral pillows for Fall. Anyone who knows me, knows I have a pillow addiction. Yes, I have a dedicated storage space for pillows and quilts.

I had glittery white owls added in here for October, but I just tweaked the mantel a bit to bring it back to "Basic Fall" for Thanksgiving. 

Into the Kitchen and Sitting Area, I look forward to changing up the small wicker settee to reflect the time of year. To bring out a warm and cozy atmosphere in late Fall, I use browns and the deeper colors of Harvest. Since it's just the two of us, we keep a small kitchen table that does have a leaf when the kiddos come for a visit.

The Baker's Rack is sort of a fixture here in the Sitting Area. It's a 30 year old catalog find that has multiple coats of spray paint, but it's one of my favorite pieces to decorate with.

I have a small kitchen prep space, but it works well for just my husband and I. When we moved here 3 years ago the cabinets were an orange oak that really needed an update. You can find a link to my painting project experience at the bottom of my blog. I'd do it all over again for the wonderful light gray finish that I ended up with.
