Late Summer Sitting Area and an August ReView

Hi Friends, as usual, when it comes to the end of the month (or season), I find there are pics and places I had wanted to share with you all, but I never got around to posting. The Kitchen Sitting Area is a spot that changes almost weekly, since it's the spot that I hang out in the most.

August is the month that even though it's still Summer, Fall begins to quietly creep in. Quilts and pillows, and florals all see a decidedly darker look of Harvest colors. I used a small gold Pinwheel type quilt, brown floral pillows and kept my vintage indigo ticking pillow on my antique white Matelasse coverlet.

My Sunflower and wild Twiggy Wreath is hanging on my old door behind the wicker settee. This is a wreath I always use when August rolls around, and many times it's there until it's time to decorate for Thanksgiving.

My cow print and replica old cheese sign stayed on the walls either side of the China Cupboard.

I love to use Sunflowers in the late Summer.

A Majolica and Fruit Theme stayed on the Baker's Rack,
watched over by my vintage Chalkware Hen.

Here are a few other highlights of August...

a story of a little vintage couple that got back together.

Next up will be how I transitioned my Mantel to Fall.
Have a good week.
We continue to pray for all those
who have been effected by Hurricane Harvey.

  2. I'm so enjoying everyone else's fall decor, but am still sitting amid late summer things at home. Your home looks so inviting, and I love September sun angles! The urge to change things has just not struck yet for me, but I know it will soon. And I've not committed to any open houses or blog tours, so there's no pressing schedule. I've been laundering and pressing vintage linens for resale, and we just made a few more changes at the booths in the antique mall today (including adding linens). Mornings are nice and cool, but I find myself wearing two sets of clothes each day as the afternoons warm up. More laundry!

  3. Thanks for a wonderful review of the month and pics of your fall preparations, Debra. That wreath has me sighing! I'm not one for decorating early for a season but I'm finding you have to do it when you have the energy.

Hope all is going well for you, dear friend.

  8. Seeing your lovely old quilt on the back of the seat makes me go look for mine to put out. If copying really is the sincerest form of flattery, you surely must feel flattered. I'm sure there are a lot of people just waiting to see what good ideas you'll come up with.
