I love this time of year,
but getting dark around 4:30 can be frustrating,
especially when you're editing photos and realize
that you need just one extra shot.
I tried to make use of the lower light
and just add a little twinkle.
So, let's take a peek at the Dining Room,
all dressed up for Christmas.
I recently found another French Wine crate,
so I added it here on top of the China Cabinet.
The old basket is filled with Evergreens
and a Winterberry Garland decorates the Crown.
My Little Lamb Tureen is temporarily watching over things
here on one of the China Cabinet shelves.
The Occipital Neuralgia
(big pain in the neck and head)
has still been hanging around, so I opted out of the large tree this year
and went with one of my smaller Lighted Entry Trees.
I had another round of nerve blocking shots this week, (ouch)
and I'm hoping for a better Christmas this year, than last.
Back to the fun...
A William Bouguereau Madonna and Child print
is out for the Christmas Season.
This is an easy spot to change out prints.
I have a hard time restraining myself here on the buffet.
It always seems to have a little more than it should.
I don't like moving my little French Girl,
she's a little fragile as you can see.
And the angle makes it appear even more "busy" with the reflection.
I was planning a post on my Christmas Cloches,
but I ran out of light.
I'll try that again this next week.
I think if I could only do one thing for Christmas decor other than a nativity,
I would stick a little evergreen tree in a silver teapot and call it done.
(but don't forget the plaid ribbon and a bird, too)
I shared a little about my choices for a
Dining Room Tablescape in an earlier post:
"My first plan when thinking about Christmas Decorating, was to find a Red Tartan Plaid fabric piece to use as a base for my burlap printed Holly table runner. I found a large tablecloth instead, and just folded it in two lengthwise. This year I used a large white lantern from Pottery Barn and Holly Topiaries that I made many years ago, in Restoration Hardware pottery by Guy Wolff. I love the high ceilings in this house, but anything that's used as decor on this table has to be good sized, otherwise it's lost."
We'd love for you to come by the link party on Monday evenings.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Merry Christmas..
ReplyDeleteI love the decorations on top of your china cabinet Debra, it really adds a festive touch! And folding a tablecloth down to use as a runner is quite brilliant, I will be saving that tip as I don't really like dining with a full cloth, I prefer to see some of the table wood and like use mats or just chargers. Looking forward to the Christmas fun next week!

Debra, I don't know how you do all you do with chronic pain. You're a very determined lady, that's for sure! I love what you do and I'm glad you share it with us. I love the inspiration as I'm trying to figure out what to do with the top of my armoires and buffets. I'm limited a bit on the surfaces where cats might knock something over -- even when they know they shouldn't be there I suspect they go all over the place once we're in bed. Like evil little elves !
ReplyDeleteBouguereau, I think, is my favorite French artist, and I covet that print you have. It's so perfect, especially with your lamb tureen nearby. I have several of his works copied on everything from prints to nested boxes to even beaded purses. He paints figures with such ethereal beauty! Your DR is beautiful. Wow, I just realized that our dark hour of 5-5:30 is an hour earlier for you!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get lasting relief from the ON. Take care not to overdo things, but I'm afraid that advice is a little too late, right?
Rita
Everything looks wonderful Debra! We have a smaller tree this year too....and lots of ornaments still in tubs. Ha! I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Debra ! I love your centerpiece of the dinner table. Yes, the smaller tree is a good idea. Next year I will downsize it, or maybe make two smaller ones.
ReplyDeleteHappy Christmas season to you all.
FABBY
Love that precious lamp tureen! I've been looking for lamp/sheep decor myself. I went for a more minimalist approach this year. And I doubt I'll ever have a large tree again. I like the look of the table top sized trees much more. Gorgeous and festive dining!

it's beautiful Debra! I hear ya about needing another photo and it's just too dark. Makes me realize that I need to get my tush busy and take photos for our 'Creating Christmas' party as well. Looking forward to yours!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Just beautiful! I love your angel and everything else.
ReplyDeleteYour home is beautiful! Yes, I will be joining you and Brenda on Tuesday. Can't wait to see what everyone shares!
ReplyDeleteYour home is looking so cozy and pretty for the holidays. I cannot wait to join in your party and also see all the other lovely homes that join in. Have a great start to the new week.

So sorry to hear you are still having so much pain, makes it hard to do anything or have enthusiasm. Hope you didn't overdo.
ReplyDeleteYour home is always so beautiful, how do you keep it so lovely? You have such a talent for making your home gorgeous but make it look easy. Look forward to your Christmas Link-up. Find it interesting to see different styles and how bloggers make their homes look so incredible.
Take care of yourself, hope nerve blocking shots work well for you.
Hope you have wonderful new week
Your dining room looks lovely, Debra. How nice that your cherished items have found a spot in your new home! I love the twinkle from your little tree and with your lights turned down low I'm sure the atmosphere is perfect for hosting holiday dinners. I've resorted to taking photos with the lights on because it's usually overcast or dark when I find time to do it!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to read about your chronic pain and I hope the injections help. Take care and know I'm wishing all the best for you.
xo, Vickie
What a beautifully decorated dining room! Thank you for sharing at Merry Monday!
