Summer Favorites: Ticking Stripes and Sunflowers

I found the most wonderful antique ticking stripe settee last week while browsing the web, but I was using my IPad and it was in the wee hours of the morning. I was having trouble when I tried to PIN things, so I couldn't find the image until just now. But all the hunting I did for it got my inspiration going once more for one of my favorite seasonal combos...all things Ticking Stripe and Florals... Mainly bouquets and arrangements with Sunflowers. So I thought I'd share with you some photos that just say "Summer" to me...

This is a photo from Worthy Goods Blog from 2014.
Crazy how seeing something can make such a big impression.
This had me on the hunt for some Ticking Fabric.
If you get a minute drop by for more inspiring show photos.

Don't they just look perfect together?

Ticking Stripes and a Sunflower Bouquet...
one of my favorite things...

I just found a nice long piece of Indigo Ticking,
so I think a new table runner is in the works.
Maybe I can find a few Sunflowers to bring all the inspiration to life.

You can find all the photo sources on my Pinterest Boards

Thank you for posting two of my favorites. . .ticking stripe and Sunflowers together!
This combination might see me through the "Dog Days of Summer"!

  3. Blue and white ticking stripes has always been one of my favorite fabrics. Years ago I found a blue and white ticking couch at a garage sale for $60. I loved that thing!

  4. Wow, when you get inspired, you really get inspired! Loved that chaise too. Right now I am on outdoor projects so it is popping in my head that if I could copycat that and waterproof it....so don't be surprised if you one floating around! It is stunning, and that table runner too.

  8. You found some great pictures! I love ticking...we still have some of the feather pillows my grandmother made and she used blue ticking. The flowers are all gorgeous. Think I'll cut our sunflowers and some purple gayfeather for an arrangement. The chickens can have the sunflower seeds when they dry.

  13. Oh how I love ticking Deborah! Great inspirations. I think I am going to use ticking on a few chairs at the new house when I can get to some DIY.

  14. Debra, I love ticking fabric! I was able to get my hands on 100 yds. of black and white upholstery fabric, totally dirt cheap. I ended up making two fitted sofa slipcovers, one for our house and one for our cottage; and I had enough left to make two valances. We sold the house and the sofa that was in the house, but I still love the ticking on our cottage sofa. It's timeless!

  17. Wonderful photos Deb, sure got my attention to get busy again. Thx for hard work finding all great photos as enjoyed immensely.
My favorite was table runner with pleats at ends also, so sassy looking and cute and so doable. Think I just might have some blue/white ticking in my stash, if not am off to JoAnns with my coupons or Hobby Lobby, depending on prices. With inspiration of making new table runner will get me to clean out sewing room which needs it terribly.
Has been so darned hot hardly go outside most of time, working in house isn't much better.
Finally got relief today but will have rain all weekend, at least temps are down, phew.
