The Entry

If you're a reader of my blog, then you know we downsized in 2014 and have been in our current home almost a year. This is my first time getting to decorate for Fall here, (except for a few weeks right before Thanksgiving) and I'm trying to take an approach that isn't overwhelming. Fall is my favorite time of the year, and I love to decorate in stages. 

I love seasonal decorating with vintage vignettes, and what better place to start than my Entry Console. Vintage pieces are oftentimes one-of-a-kind, and can make your decor a reflection of not only your interests, but your own personality. I love nature and natural elements, but also a little whimsy in my decorating. Birds, sheep, and my real life fur babies make appearances here on a regular basis.

This is my "Early Fall" decorating, using more neutrals and lighter colors and textures. Later will come a few nostalgic pieces in October for Halloween, accented with a little of the traditional orange, then I bring out darker, heavier textures for Thanksgiving, such as quilts and plaid wool blankets.

Living Room

Right now, while the temps outside are still warmer, I'm keeping the mantel more simple. This is a massive fireplace, which is difficult to change up without dragging out a ladder. The mirror is attached to the back of the niche, so I have a preserved Boxwood wreath with our monogram that has been a fixture this last year.

Guy Wolff pottery vases are a staple here on the mantel, and they are holding dried and faux Hydrangeas, with preserved Fall leaves. A collection of chalk painted gray pumpkins are center stage in this Early Fall display.

Even though we have 12 foot ceilings, this isn't a large space. We purchased the smaller scale khaki linen Chesterfield Sofas before we moved, and painted my large "French-y" end tables and coffee table in Chalk Paint in "French Linen" to match. Even though the rugs are large scale, it's easy to keep the pillows and accessories current with seasonal colors.

Basically, we have 5 areas that all flow in this open concept space.

Pillows are my go-to, for "Easy Change" Seasonal decorating.

I use a lot of vintage accessories that I mix and match, and continuously move from place to place. The old window box beneath the sofa table can frequently be seen on top of the Dining Room table filled with Hydrangeas to match the season.

 are grouped around the large Brass and Marble candle holder.

This is a smallish kitchen prep space, but since it's usually just me and my husband, we can maneuver easily. Being open to the kitchen dining and sitting area makes it feel more spacious.

This year a large metal basket is the centerpiece on the Dining Room table. A grouping with Brown Transfer ware pitchers and candlesticks also join it on a Grain Sack Fabric runner.
