Once you've experienced one of these gorgeous monthly magazine publications you'll be hooked. The UK Edition is true to it's name. It's all about life in rural Britain; farms, businesses, crafts, entrepreneurs, cooking, traditions, and lifestyle.
This month they featured bird and nest illustrations
from the Natural History Museum, London.
The illustrations in the layout look like watercolor exhibits on faded papers,
with dimensional identification tags. a very vintage look.
This month's issue is still available at bookstores.
And I have to share this wonderful breadboard that arrived in the mail this week. Being sick and delirious ;) I'd forgotten that I'd ordered it, and when my husband brought the monster box to me I was clueless. (That happens to me every once in awhile and it has nothing to do with a fever)
And this interesting reproduction metal sign came from "Antique Farmhouse" before Christmas. The distressed creams and browns are really pretty....and it says "Paris"... what's not to love?
I think I like them together...

I love that Paris sign, how pretty! I will have to subscribe to the British Country Living, what beautiful pictures, I love anything English. We lived in England for four years when I was a child, and I will never forget almost being left at The Museum of Natural History in London during a field trip. Luckily my teacher found me before the bus left. What an adventure that would have been!

ReplyDeleteOh Wow I think I like the bread board and sign together too! I considered getting a bread board and would love to have one but decided to wait for now. We have some big things to spend our money on this spring - like a new sidewalk and an a/c unit!

I recently did a post about the Country Living UK as well, and also another one of my fav's from "across the pond"... they have stayed true to being a beautiful publication, I am really disappointed in the US Country Living and don't even buy it anymore... I love how those in the UK preserve old buildings, farmland, traditions, etc... seems like in the U.S. old buildings and trees are so often torn down, so sad... two of my nieces are going back to visit relatives in London the end of April and I have a list a mile long of things I want them to bring back to me!... your new breadboard is fabulous!... it really is the "big boy"!... hope you are feeling better... xoxo Julie Marie

ReplyDeleteI have cancelled all my subscriptions to North American magazines and have buying European for some time. They "seem" to have less advertising and I find them generally more "artistic" and less "sameness". Sorry for sounding so cryptic.
ReplyDeleteNow I have to go to the bookstore and get a copy for my mom and me! Looks like a beauty! The breadboard and wall plaque are great too. I've ordered a couple of things from Decor Steals but still haven't ordered from Antique Farmhouse. When those things pop up they sure are tempting.

I had to smile...I am so guilty of scratching my head and looking puzzled when the UPS man comes! It's not that I order a lot, sometimes it just slips my mind that I might have placed an order the week or two before.

Wow, that bread board puts me in the mood for a big pizza pie. That bad boy is HUGE!! Love its scale! The bird illustrations are so sweet...I love doing bird drawings with my high school students...we often look at the work of John James Audubon as we do them. I love his work and if you ever read about the love story between him and his wife it's very romantic! People don't realize how many birds he had to kill though to get just a few good specimens for one painting...hundreds!!

Thank you for sharing the UK Country Living magazine. I had no idea it existed. I used to subscribe to the American version and grew really tired of it. The UK version looks wonderful!

I too have been picking up & enjoying the UK version more than the US. Seems like the US one is not what it use to be, & way too many advertisements also. I keep the British version, & have been tossing/passing on the US ones. Might have to look into a subscription...might be less expensive than buying at B&N.

Beautiful magazine. Perhaps truer to the old CL as the USA version is not what I remember it to be. I don't buy them anymore..they seem to be country-less whenever I pick one up in the grocery store
ReplyDeleteI agree, about the magazine. The only magazine I get is English Home. It's my favorite. Once I started getting that one it made the quality of others seem a bit inferior. I also LOVE British fabric and Farrow and Ball. It's a bit out of my price range though.
