I think my roots are showing...
my traditional decor roots that is.
I wanted to "Simplify" my Christmas decor this year, and I'm not sure I really did that. But as I was pulling things out and trying to get some inspiration about where I was going in the Living Room, I just knew that I wanted it to be different from years past. I let my "white" be the backdrop, and went for some greenery to liven things up.
I've kept the basics in here; my mirrors, vintage book bundles,
Wolff Pottery vases, and lamps.
Here are posts of the last two years mantels.
And if you want to see
what it looked like in the beginning of my blog,
just click Here
(just a warning, things look really different)
I wanted a preserved Boxwood Wreath, but haven't been able to locate one, so I improvised with a basic faux greenery wreath and wired in some faux boxwood sprigs. (Oh, I know where some are on the Internet, just not willing to fork out those prices)
These topiaries that I made about nine years ago
have come back from the lower level family room decor.
And I found this wonderfully simple "Noel" sign at Leola's this year, letting it take center stage. I think a lot of us have wanted a more "simple" approach to our Christmas decorating, this year. I love decorating for Christmas, but putting it all away is the downside for going all out. Maybe I'm somewhere in the middle.
I'll have more from the Living Room soon...

ReplyDeleteDebra your decorations are gorgeous! I love your traditional style.
ReplyDeleteI say every year I am going to keep it simple because of having to put it all away. I don't think I know the meaning of keeping it simple. LOL

Your mantel is beautiful, Debra! Every bit of it and so festive, too. I looked at your other mantels and I see a common thread...they are all balanced perfectly. I guess that's the hardest thing for me to do on my mantel. Yours are great inspiration as they are flawless!
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend!
XO,
Jane

ReplyDeleteWow. What a dream mantel, the brick and natural wood that matches the beams reflected in the mirror...all topped with the fact you have decorated it to the nines. Just stunning. Pinning away!

I have decided to simplify this year, as well, just using things I already have.
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks great!
In one of your former posts, I just loved those little houses! You've just got a gorgeous house period.

Debra, it's beautiful! I have always loved pure white with natural greens at Christmas. It's such an intense regal color scheme that spans decades. It really brings out the elegance of your living room decor. The little Noel sign on the mantel is darling!
ReplyDeleteDebra, this is just lovely! White with warm wood tones, and some fresh green is my favorite combination and you've done it beautifully here. Simple and peaceful, but still full of charming details. Love it!

So pretty...I love how the mirrors add sparkle to the look and reflect the rest of the gorgeous elements of the room as well. Stunning!
ReplyDeleteI really love how it turned out! It is perfect with your white walls and beamed ceiling (which I covet). I like greenery mixed with white. It really pops all by itself without the need for alot of other stuff. The Noel sign in the middle makes a great focal point too.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Enough said!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
~Angie
Your mantel looks lovely, Debra, and I love that Noel sign! Yes, it does seem that a lot of people are saying "simple" this year {me included!}. I may feel differently next year, but it feels right to me this year.

ReplyDeleteDebra, I love, love your new header! And I can see that you have simplified your mantle look although there is still lots of eye candy there to enjoy. It's all beautiful. Love that your fireplace looks Christmasy without looking too comercial for lack of a better word. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteSometimes Simplifying comes from the change in hue(s) versus quantity of items. Your color palette has certainly achieved a simplistic style in your Christmas decor this year! I adore it!!! N O E L is my favorite Christmas sign!!!
Fondly,
Pat
I love how you managed to create a lux look without it being unapproachable - it's still comfortable enough to feel like something you'd put in a home (as opposed to the windows at Pottery Barn) but still look shiney and magazine-ready. Love it!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks fabulous! Perfectly balanced with all the right touches, I love it!
ReplyDeleteKimberlee
