My husband knows not to bring home chocolates for Valentines Day; (love them way too much), flowers are wonderful but my cats tend to want to eat them, so when we went to the Antique Show a few weeks ago, I knew I had a little credit for shopping.
I've actually had this vintage print before, and sold it, so when I saw it again at a good price, I jumped on it. True to form, I didn't know where I'd put it, but I fell in love with this sweet little milk maid, so home she came. Amalie was the only name that fit her, so now she lives in my kitchen, and I enjoy not only her, but her bucolic friends each day. And seeing those little painted daisies, just makes it feel like Spring.
The print is in it's original wooden back frame. It's a little wavy from humidity, but old prints have such a personality, I generally don't let that bother me.
I love how she contrasts with the off white walls,
and plays off the dark floral curtains.
I've had this little birdie plaque for years,
but it received a little white paint and a "mossy" treatment.
I found a few other things that day, but one that I have in the kitchen is this wonderful little hand painted black tole tray.
It's setting on top of my double ovens right now and I can see
that it needs to be raised up a little from the photo.
(oh, the hazards of being short...)

I love your sweet print! And I'm sure I have the very same tole tray in my rotating collection. I don't have the wall space in our current house, so my trays have to take turns. :@
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking if my husband would give me "credit" for antique stores my rear end wouldn't be so big from chocolate holidays!
ReplyDelete~Bliss~
Well, I love the French Bleu Vintage ideas. These were really great, I think that it might be difficult to take picture like this, but you people really did a fantastic, job, really great one.

Oh I just love Amalie.
ReplyDeleteI love the feeling in that charming print.
Great job.
She's beautiful. I have never seen anything like that at my antique mall and I look at every picture! The size is wonderful too. Makes a statement!
ReplyDeleteHi Debra!
ReplyDeleteUmmmm I think I need to go shopping with you! *winks* Your sweet Amalie with her cows is wonderful! And the little bird plaque is darling too. I think if we went shopping together we'd have to take turns because we seem to love all the same things *winks* Vanna
I love your Amalie, the Milkmaid. She is a beautiful vintage print and looks perfect in your kitchen. The birdie plaque looks so aged after you worked your magic.
ReplyDeleteHope you can visit my blog, I'm having my first linky party Simple & Sweet Fridays. You would inspire everyone.
Love, Jody
Hi Debra!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness...I absolutely love that print! How did you ever manage to part with the first one you had? I am always drawn to old prints of children and animals...and the older and wavier the better! Thanks so much for your kind visit yesterday and for the heads up about the feature! I am thrilled! And I look forward to linking up again this afternoon! Take care!
Best Wishes and Blessings,
Amanda
I LOVE your milkmaid picture! And I absolutely LOVE your tole trays! I have them hanging in my DR and some in my kitchen. just gorgeous! :)
ReplyDeleteKristi
It's all totally awesome, but I love the black tole tray, okay and the bird plaque and the ivy on the twig heart is too cute. Thanks for linking to cowgirl up!!
ReplyDeleteI know I'm supposed to comment on the picture or the plaque, but I LOVE the chair, and how you've draped a towel over it. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteLove this artist work! Think I've seen similar pieces with kittens lapping milk from a bowl? The attention to the detail of complimentary accessories always inspires me when I visit your blog. The red in your fabric and the red in her bow and dress...the moss in the photo and the moss on the plaque...you're amazing! Enjoy the Open House ...I'll be back to see what your eye and your lens has captured!
Fondly,
Pat
What a pretty print. I haven't seen it before. The daisies definitely make it sparkle. Thanks for linking up Debra!
