Who of us when we were kids in school
didn't have a Leaf Collecting and Identification Project?
I also helped my girls go on leaf collecting adventures
every Fall when they were in school.
Displaying and categorizing them was one of my favorite Fall projects.
I love to decorate with Nature and Nature inspired things,
so when I saw this article in this months' Country Gardens Magazine
I just had to share it.
(enlarge photo for a better detailed look)
Above, old drawers, boxes and cubbies are lined
with Nature illustrations and botanicals
to help set the stage for our specimens.
What a great way to spend a beautiful Fall day
than taking off on a hike or nature trail with the kids
to find some wonderful objects to display.
Below, just using an old tackle box to show the found treasures.
Frames for leaves
and old boxes for leaf display.
And here are a few more nature inspired Pinterest finds.
Now, I want to head outdoors and see what I can find!
Let's see some of the fun from last week.
Rosemary from Ozma of Odds needs to be a weekly feature,
If for some strange reason you don't know her
get over to her blog right now and be prepared to be amazed!!
has a wonderful Fall mantle.
I'm in love with her Brown Transferware vignette.
shares her wonderful Fall Book Page Garland
share a Fall Mantle that just wowed me with the color!
Hmmm...seem to be focusing on mantles today!
Hope you'll join in today for the party.
Please link up to Common Ground on your blog post.
I know it takes a minute,
but it shares with everyone else where you're partying.
Thanks everyone!!
I'd love for you to grab and display the Fall button!
(on my sidebar)
Hope you'll join in for the party,
"anything vintage or vintage inspired"

Thanks once again for hosting. I linked up my very simple, yet nature-inspired mantle. ReplyDeleteHi Debra, LOVE this post!... you know what a Nature lover I am, and I am still always picking up little finds along the trail when we walk each day... I do hope they still do that in schools these days, nothing like getting a child in touch with the natural world around them... leaves and acorns and berries and such... what could be better!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteI love what you shared here today...just wonderful...blessings

Those photos are such wonderful inspiration, Debra! Thanks for hosting. Hope you have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteMy 10 yr old son is always bringing things in from outside that he finds. He'll always say, "Now don't throw this away". He knows to say that because I'll wonder what it's doing on the kitchen table (such as a rock or stick etc.) His latest collection involves bird feathers that he finds. I just hope they don't have any diseases! So, yes, I know all too well about the nature hike and collecting things. The display part however, not so much. Those were some great ideas!
ReplyDeleteGreat inspiration photos. Thanks for hosting the party.
ReplyDeleteHi Debra! Love all of the beautiful Fall nature inspiration you've shared! And thank you so much for the feature! What a treat! And I also want to thank you for the wonderful comment on my Beatrix Potter post today! I love being able to explain my ideas in a post...and reading the comments to see that people "get it!" You don't always get that satisfaction from simply having a booth space...blogging about it takes it to a whole new level. Don't you think? I am all linked up now...just returned home from a long day of treasure hunting! Fun fun!
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes and Blessings,
Amanda

Love your post Debra and I love Autumn too. So love heaps of leaves on the ground and the crunch when you wade through them is delightful.

ReplyDeleteHi Debra,
ReplyDeleteI just linked up to your party. I love vintage and live in a vintage Cape Cod Style home, so looking forward to joining your parties. Please come visit when you have time. Thanks for hosting!
Debra, I love bringing in bits and pieces of nature. I can't display them in the open because the kitties like to play with the things that smell like outside. So, I place them in fishbowls or other large glass containers that they can't get into. On the porch yesterday I noticed a red wasp entering a small hole in an old lunchbox I had on a bench. I asked my hubby to open it up and kill the wasps if they were there. Later I asked if there was a nest, and what had he done with it. Yep, big nest, now in the back yard where he sprayed them. WHAT ? I wanted the nest ! (grin) He thought I was nuts. But I did get the nest. It will go with my collection. I need to transfer to a larger container. Love these ideas you've found. So pretty for fall, and enjoyable all year round.
