Bundt Pan Centerpiece


I found this old, (as in probably from the 70's old) bundt cake pan several years ago. At least I think it's a bundt cake pan. It seems a little ornate and detailed but I don't think it could be anything else. I sure would have hated to be the one to butter and flour this one. I have enough trouble getting a cake out with silicone and Pam.
Anyway, the color and patina got my attention, and instead of the torture of using it for it's intended job, I opted for a Fall Centerpiece instead. Much easier than scraping cake out of little nooks and crannies.





These first four photos I "grittied" up on Picnik.
I really love that site,
I've been known to play over there for hours.





I'm using faux Fall hydrangeas and real pumpkins and gourds.




I'm sorry, you couldn't MAKE that patina if you tried!






I borrowed an old zinc lid from one of my Mason jars,
inverted it and added a pumpkin scented tea light.














One of my squirrels is hanging out on a make it yourself cupcake stand.









It was so pretty at night,
it gave the sunroom a warm cozy glow.



Fun using odd finds for centerpieces.
Hydrangeas and pumpkins are one of my favorite combinations!

    Hydrangeas and squirrels are one of mine. Love that color...and no...haven't seen it in a spray can. Your imagination is inspiring.

    That is a marvelous centerpiece! The patina on that bundt pan is WOW and your flowers and candles really bring out the patina in it. I love picnik and can spend hours these as well! It's amazing what can be done with a photo!

    That is sooo cute Debra! I think it must be a bundt cake pan, but I have never seen one exactly like that one... your little squirrel looks so cute standing guard over it, and I love the tealight in the old zinc lid...you have such a fun way of decorating, I love it!...     Debra, that is the coolest old pan. You are right you cannot recreate that patina. I love how you added the zinc lid and candle. Perfect!

    Love, love, love this Bundt pan!! And you are right, that is a patina that only time can provide!! I was about to ask about the photos, then I see your comment about it, lol. I have been playing with a trial of Adobe Photoshop, which I am in love with, but it is expiring and the $549 price tag is not in my budget!! Anyway, this is a beautiful centerpiece and the photos are gorgeous!!

    How sweet is that cake pan? You certainly embellished it well. Speaking of Picnik, I just used Cross Process on blue flowers and love that. Can't wait to use that on hydrangeas. hugs♥O

    Oh, so clever, Debra! I may have to pin this to remember it by! I would have admired the patina had I seen it - but passed it by as useless. I wonder who beat it up like that? But, such an inspiring thought to take into my day - look at things ANOTHER WAY! Beauty is sure to sprout - pumpkins, gourds, hydrangeas, and tea lights! Thanks for the inspiration!

    So pretty Debra! I love that quilt in the background. Perfect colors for fall.
    Someone suggested I submit my dilemma to your design challenge. Trying to decide whether to paint my doors and mantel black to match my newly painted hand rails on the stairs.     Neat centerpiece and I love that you repurposed the bundt pan. I like your use of the zinc lid for a candle holder and the squrrel is so cute. I'd say, you're ready for Fall.

    Debra, Now that is thinking outside of the box nnd coming up with a creative and beautiful idea! I love using this mold as a bowl with all the Autumn goodies tucked inside.     Whoa that bundt pan has had a hard life! I have its twin, only in green -- and it's in good shape still. Got it when I got married 33 years ago, so yes, it IS quite vintage!

    Of course I rarely bake a cake, so that may explain the good condition mine is in.

    Your arrangement turned out so beautiful, Debra! I love, love, love the patina on the vintage pan. It makes such a unique container. Could it have been an aspic or gelatin mold perhaps? Like you, I think it looks a bit ornate to be a bundt pan. ;)
