These days in January can get sort of dreary.
Like when the sky and the ground are the same gray color.
Peaceful, but a little lifeless.
So today I just wanted a little "pretty".
This Johnson Bros. pink floral vegetable bowl
full of paperwhites is almost past it's prime,
and I noticed a few kitty teeth have been nibbling.
Then, on seeing this little lantern,
the glass needs a little shine...
But if you look past the flaws
well...
it's just pretty.
I found this old white wicker tray when Rebecca was here.
I knew it would be a sweet landing place for some little January treasures.
Sure enough,
one of my little lambs has found a cozy spot.
It's days like this that remind me why I redid the Dining Room.
I'm joining Marty for Table Top Tuesday
Kathleen for White Wednesday
Cindy at Romantic Home
Courtney for Feathered Nest Friday
Hope you're having a good week; that the snow hasn't overtaken you, and that you can find a little "pretty" in your surroundings.
love,
Debra
It IS a pretty vignette, Debra, and I know just what you mean. Sometimes these little details are just what we need to perk us up a bit when we are getting a little worn down by the cold and snow!
ReplyDeleteHi Debra,
ReplyDeleteLooking at your table vingette makes me feel so much better. Everything is so bright, cheery and happy.
Love everything.
hugs
Sissie
Debra,
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous and thanks for that hydrangea tip, I'll try the distress ink because I love them and won't even care is they're faux!
I know how you feel - I haven't seen the sun in about three days, only gray. Your pretty display must be a great pick-me-up on a day like today. Your little lamb is very cute and she looks all cozy suggled up next to the candle and flowers. So sweet
ReplyDeleteHow pretty ~ I love the lamb ~ makes me smile
ReplyDelete;-)
Debra, that is PRETTY!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteJust so, so pretty! That's all I see. I can't get enough of the green stuff lately, and it's so pleasing here with your garden style. Love it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I love your tray and the lantern is just stunning. So pretty with the flowers and that tiny little sheep. This is truly lovely. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteI adore all the flaws! The lantern! The sheep, for I have 3 little lambs born this month and love watching running around in the pasture with their Mothers. I know the smell is wonderful in your home. Paper whites!
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty and I didn't notice a flaw one. Maybe if that's the way we looked at life...it'd be prettier too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip on the hydrangeas! I have a secret crush on faux flowers...don't tell anyone!
Debbie
Debra, you have such a knack for design. I love what you do, the little lamb is such a sweet touch. I have had the winter blues as well as my little dog, she's longing for some sunshine. It's been so foggy here. Thank you for the springtime inspiration, xoxo tami
ReplyDeleteI think January is a very peaceful time. I understand your need for "pretty" however. I like to light candles here at around 4 o'clock when it starts to get dark. They really do help with the winter and make the winter months more contemplative and peaceful for me, rather than blue and gloomy. Beautiful post!

ReplyDeletepretty, they certainly are, Debra! I have NOT developed your skill on arranging whites, but I keep on trying.
you always inspire...
Thanks for sharing the 'pretty' you display with us in blogland, Debra. I really enjoy seeing pretties like this when the weather is such as it is...blah. It picks me up!
ReplyDeleteAlso thanks for the great hydrangea trick!
- Susan
I think the word I would use is BEAUTIFUL! I love the vignette you created so perfect for a dreary winter's day! I adore the tray and the little lamb...I adore it ALL!
ReplyDeleteWhy, ah do believe it looks like Spring! And hydrangeas reign supreme in my house, too. The key is to have a bunch of hydrangea bushes in your yard that you can cull from. We have 7 and they serve me well! Thanks for sharing. Kathleen
ReplyDeleteA little pretty goes a loooong way! Love the little lamb!
ReplyDeleteDebra,
ReplyDeleteThe paperwhites bring a lot of beauty inside...thanks for sharing them.
Blessings,
Linda

Very pretty indeed!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it strange how you start to notice all kinds of things in photos that you really don't notice at all in day to day passing? Vanna
So lovely, thank you for sharing. I do want to alert you to keep kitty away from the paperwhites though, they are toxic to cats and dogs.
ReplyDeleteI love it! The flowers are beautiful!

ReplyDeleteI really love the paperwhites in the veg dish. Did you just nestle them in there and fill with water? Perfect idea!! With our Smith and Hawken store gone now, I really missed bulbs this past Christmas. I will have to order some instead. Everything looks just beautiful!
